Me...

I just love this outfit! The pictures represent the New Me. I guess the only people that would really understand that are the ones who knew me five years ago. The memories I have now of my life back then seem like memories of an old movie. Today I enjoy cooking and cleaning. I enjoy yard sales and flea markets. I enjoy eating and knowing with my heart and soul that my man will love me no matter how much weight I gain or lose. I enjoy taking vintage fabric and and creating one-of-a-kind outfits for my children. Mostly and yet simply, I enjoy my life

A Few of My Favorite Things....

I always enjoy reading blogs that include all the things that the writer loves. It gives my mind a break from thinking about all the necessities of the day, and simply think about happy times. I enjoy so many things about this life, simple pleasures. So in an effort to slow the mind and bring a simile to the face of my readers, here is a very scaled down list of a few of my favorite things.

-Edible Flowers
There is something magical about siting down for an afternoon cup of tea and being served a beautiful treat topped with a nasturtium or day lily. Nothing makes my taste buds tingle more than the thought of a home made cream cheese pastry lased with geraniums, honeysuckle, or some whimsical johnny jump-ups.

-Candle lit Bathrooms- bubble baths
Ok...Ok...., I know this is a typical passion, but I just could not bring myself to leave it out. I like to turn on a little Ali Farka Tour, or Dean Martin whatever seems right for the day and just fade away into the sweet smelling soap suds. Really, Shower people just do not get it...lol

-Playing Pretend
This is a great one! I am so happy that I have imaginative little girls who love to pretend to be fairy princesses or even an attack dragon. I am not sure at what age we are programed to take life so seriously and act like adults. The only thing I know is that dressing up in play clothes and playing make believe is wonderful happy feeling. When I see my little Dharma look at me with big eyes and an open heart and say “Queen mommy, would you like a cup of tea?”Nothing and I do mean nothing in the world could be more perfect.

-Black and White photos

I have some pictures of my grandmother when she was young. She was so happy back then. Something about that time was ….different. I love to look at the pictures of grandma with her sister and one of her with grandpa and imagine who she was.... I miss her so much. Pictures is all I have left of her, that along with wonderful memories of her love.

Sweet Sundays.....

For me life is all about the moment. One of the most satisfying things in the world for me is to bake sweets for my family. Every Sunday We gather in the kitchen as a family and bake goodies all day. Throughout the week whenever we are craving something sweet all we have to do is open the fridge, not only do we get a wonderful desert but we are reminded of our special Sunday together. It is something so simple, but I feel that family time is so important. One of my favorite deserts is popcorn covered in chocolate and caramel. Life is way to short to not eat desert.......

Love

Love is our most basic human instinct. This is a picture of twins, one was expected to live the other was not. This picture makes my heart swell so big it could explode..... You can read more about this story under the rescuing hug.

Happy Spring

For as long as recorded history people have used the rabbit as a symbol of fertility. Easter means a lot of things to a lot of different people. The one common thread is LOVE. Easter for me is a time to be thankful, Its kinda my personal thanksgiving. I am so thankful for my life. I have been blessed with three perfect, beautiful children. The rabbit is a symbol reminding me to be grateful for my family. Happy Spring every one.

The best thing about life is the people you chose to spend it with. I can write with honesty that I am so happy for all of the paths I have taken, because they brought me to the happy place I am right now. Isn’t that what life is all about, HAPPINESS.  Gosh, I read like a greeting card. I know you can’t see my face but I’m smiling. What I am trying to write is that I LOVE MY LIFE, and…….I LOVE MY BEST FRIEND. This one is all about the love of my life Jason Fountaine.

Kevin Paris / "Sunrise Song" / From Brazil.

I simply can't express how this makes me feel. All I say is that something about this song is all right........

On The Planet Earth (Original Ukulele Song by Danielle Ate the Sandwich)

I enjoy the power and emotion that seems to beam out of musicians before the corruption of money, expensive lighting and overwhelming fame kicks in. I like how I can truly connect with the artist. I would rather sit outside on a warm day in the grass and listen to a newbee randomly sing and play , than ever go to an overpriced, crowded concert. I enjoy the slight imperfection that makes it raw and real.

Anyway, this video by Danielle Ate the Sandwich is wonderful! Love, love , love the ukulele!

This makes me happy!

I am a person who gets board with my wardrobe quite often. Every couple months I go through my closet and pick out a few boxes of stuff that I just do not love anymore. I take this stuff to the Too Small Shop. Then I just forget about it........well, until Im in the mood to shop and am having a temporary cash flow problem. This is so wonderful because I will have credit waiting for me. I always find a few things that put me in a wonderful mood and I get the little shopping FIX that I need!

Flower Time

There is something magical about SPRING. No matter what is happening in my world, waking up to the sounds of birds chirping, and witnessing the entire world around me come to life, I feel a spark. Even the bees seem happy. There is a wonderful energy this time of year. A creativity of some sorts seems to awaken in my very soul. This mystical feeling must be why the pagans invented the rabbit day. Anyway, spring in the air has caused me to bring out the flowers.

Here are two pictures of beautiful rooms that I think have captured the spring feeling. Both are from House Beautiful magizene.

Just had to add this one: my favorite spring time girl, Fancy Nancy! She is my idol!!!

Holding On

When I was around nine years old I lost my mother. It was so long ago and yet I truly miss her everyday. One of the only things I remember about her was her love of owls. She had owl pictures, and owl towels she even had a set of owl lamps. This memory of her makes me share her passion for the wise creature. That being the case you can imagine my excitement when I got this two piece outfit for Dharma! It made me so happy to see her wearing it. A short time after she had grown out of it, my youngest Keytree was just the right size for it. It seems like a simple, small thing, but something about this outfit makes me smile. Now that Keytree has grown out of it, I just could not bring myself to let it go. I decided to make something else so they could wear the little owl just a little longer. A headband and leggins do trick. This makes me happy.......

Rummage

One of my favorite things in the world is to go to rummage sales. I love when I find something that is incredibly affordable, clean it up, put it in the perfect place and amazingly it looks like a million bucks. Today I found this orange stool. It simply makes me smile everytime I look at it.

Dharma's Artwork

Dharma Daydreaming

Happiness

Wow!!! A new study published in the Journal Proceedings of National Academy of Sciences suggests that the human brain does not firmly distingush between physial pain and emotional pain. Our emotional outlook on life could directly affect our physical health. So... I am going to listen to the music that I love. I am going to color outside the lines and sing off key, out loud whenever I want. I am going to wear pretty princess dress-up clothes, even when I'm only cleaning the house. I am going to take long, hot bubble baths at noon. I am going to eat my desert for breakfast. I am going to have tea parties with my children on the living room floor. I am going to go on long walks with the love of my life, and wisper sweet somethings into his ear. I am going to spend days pretending I am a child again. Somedays I am going to be a circus performer. I am going to do all of these things because they make me happy. Thats what I think life is all about, daydreaming and happiness.
